At I.S 235, we provide English as a New Language programs (ENL) and Spanish Transitional Bilingual Education programs (TBE). We are also proud to offer S.I.F.E Bridges to Academic Success in Spanish and English for our students. These programs are designed to meet the diverse learning needs of our students, helping them thrive academically while also celebrating their linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

 

ENL: A program designed to help students who are nit native English speakers develops their English skills focusing on listening, reading, speaking and writing.

 

TBE: Also known as early-exit English bilingual programs, is a type of educational program designed to help English Language Learners (ELLs) develop English proficiency by using their native language as a support.

 

S.I.F.E: A specialized educational program designed to support “Students with Interrupted Formal Education; meaning students who have experienced inconsistent or limited schooling prior to arriving in a new country.
